A Much-Belated Motor City Wrap-Up

Filed under: Uncategorized | No Comments »
Wow. So the Motor City Convention was already a month ago and I’m just now finding time to post my pictures. Life has been a bit of a whirlwind recently with moving both my apartment and the office I work at while preparing to get married. Needless to say, time has been in short supply. A while back I tweeted that the week had become my Planck unit of time. I think I really hit on something there. I may even make it the signiture on all my outgoing e-mails.
“If you don’t hear back from me for a few weeks, please bear in mind that the week is now my Planck unit of personal time and this gap has registered as only a few instants for me.”
I don’t think that will really fly.
Oh well.
Anyways, without further ado, here are some pictures to look at. Better late than never right?
My booth at the show. I had a lot more to offer this year, and it felt great to not have an empty table in front of me.
Another view of the booth. I get to set up with some great people this year. In the background you can see Jake Minor of the Minor Bros.
I also had the privelege of setting up next to David Petersen and Katie Cook.
A robot-portrait commission for Katie Cook. This was a blast to work on.*
That’s all for now, but I offer you this teaser. I am already working on my next post and it’s going to be great. I am hoping to debut a few original techniques for working with perspective. These are home-grown ideas and I am excited to share them, but first I have to finish up with some accompanying, step-by-step illustrations. Anyways, get ready for it. Tell your friends. Mark your calendars (don’t really, who knows how long this will take.)
*A note on grammar for my brother: “This was a blast on which to work” would sound ridiculous in this or any other context.
